Are you an animal lover? Would you like to adopt an alpaca or something a little different? Then how about trying sponsor an Alpaca? If you are not familiar with these animals, you should know that alpacas have similarities to llamas, although they are slightly smaller.  www.alpacas-hampshire.co.uk are giving everyone the chance to buy this nice thing to do but you need not worry over having space to keep such an animal. As with many animal care schemes, you select the animal you wish to adopt, and it will remain cared for and owned by Hensting Alpacas. Hensting Alpacas is a small alpaca farm in Hampshire, which specialises in raising and breeding beautiful high-quality alpacas. Here, all the alpacas are cared for to the highest standards.  Alpacas are highly addictive animals, and it is impossible not to fall in love with them; the cria (alpaca babies) are even more irresistible.  If you are not familiar with these animals, read on to discover some interesting facts.

Alpacas are camelids, which means they are related to camels, llamas, vicuñas and guanacos, its origins laying in South America. The average alpaca weight is 50-84 kg and unlike their cousins, the llamas, alpacas were not bred to be animals of burden. They are highly appreciated for their fibre, which is very soft and like cashmere. Since the breed comes from the Andes and more specifically Peru, where herds are used to grazing at altitudes of 3,500 m (11,500 ft.) to 5,000 m (16,000 ft.), their fleece grows long and dense. When it is long enough, the coat is shorn and manufactured to produce a wide variety of clothing including hats, gloves and sweaters, and other items such as blankets. Although generally nervous around humans, these animals are highly sociable within the breed, preferring to live in herds. An alpha male leads a herd of females and their young and, being prey animals, the herd is careful when it comes to intruders, making high-pitched sounds to alert the others to something approaching. If the predator is small, they can attack it, jumping on them with their front feet and spitting at them. Yes, alpacas do spit, however only if they feel threatened. They rarely spit at humans and when rearing alpacas, it is possible for them to become accustomed to petting, although they generally prefer not to be touched on the abdomen or feet. Interestingly, they toilet in a communal manner going to the toilet in the same location, and at the same time, in an area where they don’t graze.

We are delighted to be able to offer you the opportunity to adopt one of these gorgeous animals. This will assist this small farm in ensuring the best conditions for their alpacas, especially orphans, who need additional care and occasionally bottle feeding. You will be able to choose between a gold or silver care / friend package, each with an attractive list of contents. In both cases, you will have the chance of selecting your favourite alpaca and receiving an adoption certificate that will make you its adopter for a period of 12 months. With the Silver package you will also receive a colour photo of your adopted alpaca, together with information about them. Included is a sample of your alpaca’s fleece to keep as a souvenir and a keyring made exclusively from alpaca fleece. However, if you want a little extra, the gold adoption package includes the opportunity to attend the Alpaca Walking Experience. You will enjoy a scenic outdoor walk lasting 2 hours with these incredible animals and the chance to meet your adoptee. It may be the best gift you can give, a unique opportunity of a lifetime.
