There's something truly magical about walking with baby alpacas. These gentle, curious creatures are experiencing the world for the first time, and you get to be part of their journey! At Hensting Alpacas, our four adorable 2025 cria are ready to steal your heart on their very first walking adventures.
Meet Our 2025 Baby Alpacas
Our wildflower-themed cria family is here, and each one has their own unique personality:
🌼 Daisy - The Friendly Explorer
With her soft light fawn coat and gentle nature, Daisy is a natural people-lover. Named after the cheerful wildflower that brightens every meadow, she's curious about everything and everyone she meets. Daisy loves investigating pockets and will often walk right beside you like an old friend. Her sweet disposition makes her perfect for first-time alpaca walkers and young children.
☀️ Dandelion - The Striking Beauty
You'll spot Dandelion instantly with his stunning white coat and captivating blue eyes. This little explorer lives up to his wildflower namesake - just as dandelions spread joy wherever they grow, Dandelion brings wonder and charm to every walk. His inquisitive nature means he's always investigating new sights and sounds, making every moment with him an adventure.
🌸 Meadowsweet - The Facebook Star
Our Facebook community chose this beautiful name, and it fits perfectly! Meadowsweet's mid-fawn coat gleams in the sunshine, and her sweet, playful nature makes her a favourite with everyone she meets. She's got the perfect balance of calm and curious - happy to walk at a gentle pace but always ready for a playful moment. Just like the fragrant wildflower meadowsweet that grows along Hampshire's riverbanks, she brings sweetness to every experience.
🌿 Chamomile - The Calm Observer
Named after the soothing herb, Chamomile has a wonderfully calm and inquisitive personality. Her mid-fawn coat may carry a potential grey gene, which makes her even more special. Chamomile takes everything in stride, observing the world around her with quiet fascination. She's perfect for those seeking a more tranquil, mindful walking experience.
Why Baby Alpaca Walks Are Extra Special
A Gentler, More Meaningful Pace
Here's what makes walking with baby alpacas completely different from standard alpaca walks: these cria are brand new to the walking experience. Unlike our confident adult alpacas who've done hundreds of walks, our babies are still learning and discovering.
This means we take things nice and slow. And that's actually the best part! You'll get:
- More interaction time - Baby alpacas stop to investigate everything, giving you plenty of moments to bond
- Better photo opportunities - Their slower pace means you can capture those perfect shots without rushing
- Deeper connections - Watch their personalities emerge as they gain confidence with you by their side
- Heartwarming moments - See the world through their eyes as they experience new sights, sounds, and sensations
- Educational insights - Learn about alpaca development, training methods, and early socialization
Perfect for Families & Animal Lovers
Baby alpaca walks are absolutely perfect for:
- Families with young children - Kids are naturally drawn to baby animals, and the slower pace is ideal for little legs
- Photography enthusiasts - Baby alpacas are incredibly photogenic! Their fluffy coats, curious expressions, and playful antics create picture-perfect moments
- First-time alpaca walkers - The gentle nature of cria makes them less intimidating for those new to alpaca experiences
- Anyone seeking a mindful experience - The slower pace encourages you to be present and enjoy every moment
- Special occasions - Birthdays, anniversaries, or just because - baby alpaca walks create unforgettable memories
What to Expect on Your Baby Alpaca Walk
A Relaxed, Unhurried Experience
When you book a baby alpaca walk at Hensting Alpacas, you're signing up for something truly special. Our standard morning walks run from 10am-12pm, giving you a full two hours in the beautiful Hampshire countryside at Itchen Valley Country Park.
Here's what happens:
Meet & Greet (15-20 minutes)
We'll introduce you to our four cria and explain how baby alpacas are different from adults. You'll learn about their wildflower names, their individual personalities, and what makes each one special. This is also when we match you with your walking companion based on your experience level and the cria's temperament that day.
The Walk (60-75 minutes)
This is where the magic happens! We'll set off through the stunning grounds of Itchen Valley Country Park, but remember - we're on baby alpaca time now. Expect to stop frequently as the cria investigate flowers, watch birds, or simply take in their surroundings. These pauses aren't interruptions - they're the whole point! This is when you'll see their personalities shine and capture those incredible photos.
Photo Opportunities Throughout
Unlike rushed experiences, our baby alpaca walks give you plenty of time for photos. Want a selfie with Dandelion? No problem. Need the perfect shot of your child with Daisy? We'll make it happen. The slower pace means you won't miss a single memorable moment.
Learning & Bonding
Throughout the walk, you'll learn fascinating facts about alpaca development, their South American heritage, their incredible fleece, and what it takes to raise and train baby alpacas. You'll also hear about our wildflower theme and why we chose these special names.
The Itchen Valley Country Park Setting
Our baby alpaca walks take place in one of Hampshire's most beautiful locations. Itchen Valley Country Park has earned 16 consecutive Green Flag Awards for environmental excellence, placing it among the UK's finest country parks. The gentle trails, stunning views, and peaceful atmosphere create the perfect backdrop for your baby alpaca adventure.
When Can You Meet Our Baby Alpacas?
Our 2025 cria are available for walks from 6th January through 31st October 2026. This extended season gives you plenty of opportunities to experience baby alpaca walks through different seasons:
Winter & Early Spring (January-March)
See the cria in their fluffy winter coats! The cooler temperatures mean they're extra active and playful. Crisp winter mornings in the Hampshire countryside are absolutely magical with baby alpacas.
Spring & Early Summer (April-June)
Watch the cria grow more confident each week! Spring brings wildflowers to the park (just like their names!), and you might even spot new 2026 cria being born in the adjacent paddocks. The longer days and warmer weather make this prime time for baby alpaca walks.
Summer & Autumn (July-October)
By summer, our 2025 cria are becoming experienced walkers but still maintain that playful, gentle nature that makes them special. Autumn brings stunning colours to Itchen Valley Country Park, creating breathtaking photo opportunities with your alpaca companions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are baby alpacas safe to walk?
Absolutely! Our cria are carefully selected and trained for walking experiences. They're naturally gentle and curious. Because they're smaller and calmer than adult alpacas, many first-time walkers find them even easier to handle.
Will the walk be too slow for older children or adults?
Not at all! The slower pace is what makes this experience so special. It's not about covering distance - it's about connection, observation, and being present. Older children and adults often find this mindful approach incredibly rewarding.
Can we request a specific cria?
While we can't guarantee specific cria (we match based on temperament and experience level), you're welcome to let us know your preference when you arrive. We'll do our best to accommodate where possible!
What if the weather is bad?
We walk in light rain, and our cria wear weatherproof coats in wet conditions. Only severe weather will cancel walks. If we cancel, you can rebook within 3 months. We recommend adding our £4.50 rescheduling insurance for complete peace of mind.
Can I adopt a cria after the walk?
Yes! We offer adoption packages for all our 2025 cria. Choose from Bronze (£12), Silver (£20-£35), or Gold (£58-£62) packages. Adoption includes certificates, photos, updates, and special perks throughout 2026.
