Meet Our 2025 Cria: This Year's Wildflower Theme

This year at Hensting Alpacas, our cria naming theme is "Wildflowers" – celebrating the beautiful flora of Hampshire and the natural beauty of our countryside location at Itchen Valley Country Park.

Hensting Daisy - The Surprise Light Fawn Beauty

Born: 8th June 2025
Fleece Colour: Light Fawn
Special Feature: Koala's 5th Cria

Daisy surprised us all! As Koala's fifth cria, we expected another tuxedo grey alpaca like her previous babies. Instead, Daisy arrived with gorgeous light fawn fleece – a beautiful solid colour that's highly sought after in the alpaca world.

Her 'baby' fleece shows excellent medium crimp and density, indicating she'll develop into a stunning adult alpaca. Daisy is playful, confident, and has already taken on the role of aunty to the other 2025 cria born after her.

Hensting Dandelion - The Blue-Eyed Wonder

Born: 6th July 2025
Fleece Colour: Solid White
Special Feature: Unusual Blue Eyes

Dandelion is truly special. Born just as we arrived for morning feeding, this handsome male has striking blue eyes inherited from his father, Hensting Ash. Blue eyes are relatively rare in alpacas, making Dandelion particularly unique.

His fleece shows the high crimp and density passed down from his mother, Valley Alpacas Kemi. This combination of solid white colouring and exceptional fleece quality makes Dandelion's genetics especially valuable.

Hensting Meadowsweet - The Community-Named Sweetheart

Born: 9th July 2025
Fleece Colour: Mid Fawn
Special Feature: Named by our Facebook Community

Meadowsweet holds a special place in our hearts – she's named by our Facebook followers! After asking for wildflower name suggestions, "Meadowsweet" was drawn from the entries. The name perfectly suits her sweet nature, inherited from her mother Willowbrook Bella.

As Bella's third cria and second with Ash, Meadowsweet represents a proven, successful breeding combination. Her mid-fawn fleece will lighten as she matures, and she's already showing excellent fleece quality.

Hensting Chamomile - The Grey Gene Carrier

Born: 24th July 2025
Fleece Colour: Mid Fawn with White Markings
Special Feature: Potential Grey Gene Carrier

Chamomile is fascinating from a genetics perspective. While she has beautiful mid-fawn fleece, the distinctive white markings around her face suggest she may carry the rare grey gene from her father, Ash.

Grey colouring comes from a genetic mutation and is the rarest and most sought-after alpaca fleece colour. If Chamomile does carry this gene, her future offspring could produce grey cria – making her incredibly valuable for breeding programs.
