Our alpaca walks are genuinely all-ages — children from 3 years old can walk their own alpaca (with an adult on the second lead), and infants are welcome in baby carriers. The walk covers approximately one mile of level, scenic paths through Itchen Valley Country Park at a gentle pace suitable for the whole family.

Your 2-hour walk follows a circular route through Itchen Valley's ancient woodland and water meadows, alongside the historic River Itchen. The route is level and accessible, with surfaced pathways throughout. You will walk through landscape that has been protected and managed for over 40 years — one of the finest country park settings in southern England.
Hen party alpaca walks at Hensting Alpacas work best booked as morning sessions (10:00am–12:00pm), which give the group the most time in the park and the best chance of encountering baby alpacas if the visit falls between February and July. Groups should book as early as possible — sessions have a per-session capacity, and hen parties are particularly popular in spring and summer. The walk itself lasts approximately two hours and is at a gentle, sociable pace — absolutely no fitness requirement or prior animal experience needed. Every member of the group will be individually introduced to their alpaca, given a full safety briefing, and have ample time for photos throughout the route.

Yes! All our alpaca walks require advance booking. Spaces are limited and this experience is very popular, especially during weekends and school holidays.
We recommend sturdy, closed-toe footwear (wellies in wet weather), weather-appropriate clothing, and layers. We walk in most weather conditions, so dress for the outdoors!
Yes! All children are welcome. Children under 8 must have one dedicated adult, and children 12+ may lead an alpaca independently. Everyone needs a valid ticket.
We're located at Itchen Valley Country Park in Hampshire, just 15 minutes from Southampton, Winchester, and Eastleigh. Easy access from Portsmouth, Romsey, and surrounding areas.
We walk in light rain! Only severe weather will cancel walks. If we cancel, you can rebook within 3 months. We recommend adding our £4.50 rescheduling insurance for flexibility.
