Our adorable 2026 baby alpacas — Daisy, Dandelion, Meadowsweet and Chamomile — are available to walk on selected morning sessions from February through to July. Baby alpaca walks sell out fastest of all our sessions, so early booking is strongly recommended.
Autumn transforms Itchen Valley Country Park into one of Hampshire's most beautiful seasonal landscapes — the ancient woodland turns gold and copper, the air is crisp, and the River Itchen path takes on a completely different character to the summer months. Our alpacas thrive in cooler temperatures, meaning autumn sessions often see the herd at their most energetic and playful. Afternoon walks run through to the end of October — the last afternoon sessions of the year before the season closes — making early October in particular a popular time for couples, adults, and families wanting one last outdoor experience before winter.
Your 2-hour walk follows a circular route through Itchen Valley's ancient woodland and water meadows, alongside the historic River Itchen. The route is level and accessible, with surfaced pathways throughout. You will walk through landscape that has been protected and managed for over 40 years — one of the finest country park settings in southern England.
Autumn alpaca walks at Hensting Alpacas run throughout September and October, with morning sessions every day the park is open and afternoon sessions every Friday and Saturday until the end of October. October half term is particularly popular for families, and the autumn colour makes the walk route through Itchen Valley's ancient woodland genuinely spectacular. If you have been thinking about booking all year, autumn is your last chance for afternoon sessions until March — advance booking is strongly recommended.

Yes! All our alpaca walks require advance booking. Spaces are limited and this experience is very popular, especially during weekends and school holidays.
We recommend sturdy, closed-toe footwear (wellies in wet weather), weather-appropriate clothing, and layers. We walk in most weather conditions, so dress for the outdoors!
Yes! All children are welcome. Children under 8 must have one dedicated adult, and children 12+ may lead an alpaca independently. Everyone needs a valid ticket.
We're located at Itchen Valley Country Park in Hampshire, just 15 minutes from Southampton, Winchester, and Eastleigh. Easy access from Portsmouth, Romsey, and surrounding areas.
We walk in light rain! Only severe weather will cancel walks. If we cancel, you can rebook within 3 months. We recommend adding our £4.50 rescheduling insurance for flexibility.
